“Health is much more dependent on our HABITS and NUTRITION than on medicine”

Why Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine is a patient-centered, evidence-based approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of disease rather than just managing symptoms. It views the body as an interconnected system, recognizing that imbalances in one area can affect overall health. Functional Medicine combines advanced diagnostic testing, lifestyle interventions, nutrition, and personalized treatment plans to support optimal wellness. By considering genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors, this approach empowers individuals to take an active role in their health, promoting long-term healing and disease prevention. Health is a journey, allow us to be your guide!

Meet the Founder

Jennifer L. Harris MD | IFMCP

My journey into medicine began long before medical school. At the age of 10, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes—an experience that shaped how I understand health, both personally and professionally.

I felt called into the field of medicine and went on to train and specialize in anesthesiology, a field I continue to practice and deeply value. I am drawn to the precision, critical thinking, and responsibility it requires—but more importantly, it has given me a unique perspective on the importance of optimizing a patient’s health before they ever enter the operating room.

Functional medicine was a journey toward better understanding, and improvement of my own health and disease management. Through this, I discovered an entire community of patients seeking something more from their current healthcare experience. Many are looking for a physician who truly listens, connects on a deeper level, and serves as both an advocate and educator throughout their health journey.

Today, I work with patients who are looking for more — more answers, more support, and a path toward truly feeling well again. I believe there is a real need for healthcare that prioritizes listening, education, and the belief in restoration of health.

My approach is grounded in the fundamentals: nutrition, movement, sleep, relationships, and purpose. These are often overlooked, yet they are where meaningful and lasting change begins. The process requires more than just a plan—it requires a shift in mindset. Helping patients navigate that transformation is the most challenging and rewarding part of what I do.
